My Background

I Know What It’s Like to really struggle. There was a time in my life when I felt like PTSD was taking over. It was ruining my relationships with friends and family, and I couldn’t connect with my partner. I felt alone, misunderstood and didn’t believe anyone could help me. That was 25 years ago, and to end the painful situation I was in, I went to counselling, and I researched the literature on PTSD. After developing the tools to overcome my own PTSD, I found new self-confidence, greater ability to connect with others, and I discovered a new sense of joy for life.

I know that it’s very possible to overcome huge problems, to gain greater self-confidence, to connect more deeply with others. I know that you can overcome with all kinds of difficulties in life when you get the right support, understanding and guidance.

And because I saw people hurting and stuck believing things could not get better while I knew change is very possible, I decided to become a counsel-lor and dedicate my life to helping people like you learn how to conquer the challenges in your life!

I’m passionate about helping you overcome the problems in your way, because I know how painful unhappiness, worry and low self-worth can feel. And I know how great it feels when you are able to heal from self-doubt, hurt, loss in a healthy way.

You can gain tools to overcome those challenges so that you can focus on living your life the way you want! For almost 10 years now, I’ve had the privilege of helping clients break the cycle of feeling stuck with worry, unhappiness and defeat.

Everyone can benefit from feeling less anxious, or unhappy. Becoming more skilled at dealing with all kinds of life challenges and becoming more aware of what makes life meaningful for you is completely worth it. And you can learn strategies and techniques to overcome those huge obstacles. You can discover ways how to feel better about yourself, create deeper connection with others, and experience more happiness in your life.

How I Can Help

Because of my personality, training and experience, I provide you with two of the most important ingredients for success in therapy.

I love what I do and genuinely want to help you get more of the life you want. Clients tell me that my open nature, and kind, gentle way with clients, makes them feel accepted and safe to discuss whatever’s bothering them. I provide you with acceptance and safety to talk about what you need to. This is one of the most important ingredients in helping you make the changes you want.

Listening to your personal story will be both an honour and a privilege for me. Listening with interest and empathy means that you will feel heard and understood. This is the other most important ingredients that will help you make the changes you want.

“It’s not that you’re passionate about what you do; it’s that you care deeply for the clients you work with.”

What To Expect

Here are two examples of Client Outcomes:

When Janice started therapy, she had a lot of anxiety because of her graduate work, couldn’t concentrate, was procrastinating and thinking about dropping-out. After a short round of therapy, Janice stopped procrastinating and completed work on time. At a three-month follow-up, Janice felt confident, her concentration increased and she was looking forward to her graduation.
When Mark entered therapy, he felt burnt out for some time and he could no longer talk to his wife without getting angry, and he could see the strain this was putting on their marriage. After 3 months in therapy, Mark could speak to his wife calmly even with issues that used to set him off. Mark felt energized and was planning a surprise get-away for them, something he had never done before.
